Account and troubleshooting

Downloading your data and deleting your account

Both job seekers and employers can download a copy of their data. Job seekers can delete their account themselves, and employers delete their organization by emailing support.

The short version

Job seekers: open your Privacy & data settings for a one-click data download and an account-delete option. Employers: open your Data & privacy settings, where you can request a data export (we prepare it and let you download it when it's ready) and start deleting your organization by emailing support at support@greenjobsboard.us. In both cases, the export and the deletion cover only the data tied to your account or your organization.

Downloading your data as a job seeker

Open your Privacy & data settings. The page reads "Privacy & data," with the note "Download a copy of your data or delete your account."

The Export your data card has one button: Download data. Click it, and your browser downloads the file right away.

What's in your download

  • Profile info (email, first and last name, phone, city, state, country)
  • Career details (current job title, current career, career summary)
  • Skills, goals, and experiences (your work history)
  • A link to your profile photo (the photo itself isn't in the file; the link points to your stored copy)
  • Account details (when it was created, when it was last updated)

What's not in your download

  • Saved jobs and tracked applications. You can save these yourself from Your Jobs if you'd like a copy.
  • Files like your resume and portfolio. These stay stored securely, and you can download them one at a time from your profile.
  • Your notifications history.
  • Mentor profile info (if you set one up). Support can pull this together separately if you need it.

The download is instant. There's no waiting and no email link, just a file in your downloads folder.

Downloading your data as an employer

Open your Data & privacy settings. The Data export card has a Request export button.

Employer exports cover everything across your company, so they're a bit larger. We prepare the file for you and let you download it when it's ready:

  1. Click Request export. The card shows a "Processing" status.
  2. Keep an eye on the card. When your export is ready, the button changes to Download export.
  3. Click it to download. Your browser saves the file.

What's in your export

Everything tied to your company:

  • Company profile (name, description, location, sector, pathway, sustainability commitments)
  • Every role you've posted (drafts and published)
  • Every application across your roles, with the details candidates submitted
  • Pipeline activity (stage changes, with timestamps)
  • Any custom tags you've created
  • Internal notes (yours and your team's)
  • A billing summary (no card numbers, since our payment provider handles those)

What's not in your export

  • Card numbers or full payment details, which live with our payment provider. Use its billing portal for payment-related downloads.
  • The contents of files (candidate resumes, your branding images). Links to the files are included, but the files themselves stay stored securely.
  • Your teammates' personal account info.

Exports usually take a few minutes for smaller companies and longer if you have thousands of applications. The card shows the progress, so you don't have to keep refreshing.

Deleting your account as a job seeker

The Delete account card sits at the bottom of your Privacy & data settings, in a red-bordered danger zone.

The message is clear: "Irreversible. Read carefully."

Deleting your account can't be undone. Not even support can bring your data back, so download a copy first if you might want it later.

What happens when you delete

  1. Click Delete my account. A confirmation dialog opens.
  2. Confirm. We start the deletion.
  3. Your account, profile, files, saved jobs, applications, and tracking data are permanently removed.
  4. You're signed out, and you won't be able to sign back in to the deleted account.

What gets removed

  • Your profile (everything on your profile)
  • Your applications, saved jobs, and tracking data
  • Your uploaded files (resume, portfolio)
  • Your mentor profile (if you set one up)
  • Your notifications history
  • Your sign-in (email or Google link)

What stays

  • Applications you already sent to employers stay on those employers' Candidates pages. Sending an application is a bit like sending an email: once it's in their hands, it's in their system too, not just yours. To ask a specific employer to remove your application, reach out to them directly.
  • Anonymized, aggregated numbers. Totals that include your activity (like "1,200 applications submitted last month") stay in the platform's overall metrics, with no personal info attached.

Before you delete

  • Download your data first if you might want it later. Once you delete, there's no getting it back.
  • Cancel any mentor sessions you've offered or requested.
  • Save your applications somewhere else if you want a record. The download captures most of your data, but not your application history for each role.

Deleting your organization as an employer

Deleting an organization isn't something you do on your own. You start it by emailing support, and the team verifies who you are and your request before carrying out the deletion.

The Danger zone card in your Data & privacy settings has a Delete organization button. When you click it:

  1. A confirmation dialog opens with the consequences spelled out.
  2. Confirming opens a pre-filled email to support@greenjobsboard.us with the subject "Organization deletion request" and a starter message.
  3. Send the email. Support handles the request, usually within 2 business days.

Why does support handle it?

Deleting an organization is more far-reaching than deleting one person's account:

  • All your teammates lose access.
  • All your published roles come off the job listings.
  • All applications, candidate data, internal notes, and tags are deleted.
  • All billing is closed out, and any active subscriptions are cancelled.

Support makes sure the request came from someone allowed to delete the organization, and helps with anything in the way (like an active subscription that needs a clean cancellation).

Before you request deletion

  • Cancel your subscription first so it doesn't renew. You can manage your plan from your Plan & billing settings, and Plan & billing walks through the details.
  • Give your teammates a heads-up so they aren't caught off guard.
  • Download your data. Once it's deleted, there's no getting it back.
  • Double-check there are no roles you need to keep. Published roles go away with the organization.

Reaching support

The support email is support@greenjobsboard.us. Employers can copy it straight from the Support contact card in their Data & privacy settings.

Replies usually arrive within two business days. For deletion requests, include:

  • The email tied to your account or organization
  • Your organization or account name
  • A short note confirming you understand this can't be undone

Good to know

  • Downloading and deleting are separate. You can download without deleting. Plenty of people download every so often as a backup.
  • Deleted data can't be brought back. Even support can't restore it, so download first if you might want it.
  • Deleting a job-seeker account is immediate. There's no grace period or "undo within 30 days." Once you confirm, it's done.
  • Deleting an organization has a manual step. Even though the page has a Delete button, clicking it opens an email rather than deleting right away. Send the email to complete the request.
  • Files stick around briefly. Files like resumes and branding may stay stored securely for a short cleanup window after deletion, but they're no longer accessible.
  • Privacy controls live in each portal. Job seekers manage their data from job-seeker settings, and employers from employer settings. There's no single place that covers both.
  • Aggregated numbers don't include personal info. Platform-wide totals that count your activity are anonymized after deletion.

If something goes wrong

  • "Couldn't load export status." Refresh the page. If it keeps happening, reach out to support, since the export may have stalled.
  • The download didn't start. Your browser may have blocked it. Check your downloads for blocked files, and try a different browser if it keeps happening.
  • Account delete didn't work. This is rare. Reach out to support with your account email and the message you're seeing.
  • You can't find the Delete organization button. Some roles in larger organizations don't have access to the Privacy page. Check with your organization admin or support.
  • You deleted by accident. Deleting an account or organization can't be undone. Reach out to support right away, and if it's been less than a few hours they may be able to help, though there are no guarantees.
