Account and troubleshooting

Resetting your password

Two ways to change your password: from your settings if you're logged in, or from the login page if you're locked out.

The short version

If you're logged in, changing your password from settings is the fastest path, and no email link is needed. If you're locked out, go to log in, click Forgot Password, enter your email, and we'll send you a reset link. If you signed up with Google, there's no password to change here. You'll manage that in your Google account instead.

Change your password while you're logged in

This is the simplest way, with no email needed.

If you're a job seeker

  1. Open your Account & security settings from the gear icon in the sidebar, or click your profile and then Settings.
  2. You'll land on Account & Security. Find the Change password card.
  3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
  4. Click Update password.

The change takes effect right away, and you'll stay signed in on the device you're using.

If you're an employer

  1. Open your Security settings, listed under Personal in the settings sidebar.
  2. Find the Change password card.
  3. Enter your current password, then your new password twice.
  4. Click Update password.

Same as above. It takes effect right away, and you stay signed in.

Reset your password from the login page

Use this when you can't log in.

  1. Go to the login page. Head to log in.
  2. Click "Forgot Password". The link sits right below the password field and takes you to forgot your password.
  3. Enter your email. Use the email on your account.
  4. You'll always see "check your inbox". For your security, we show the same message whether or not the email is on file, so no one can use this page to find out which addresses are registered. If you mistype the email, no email arrives, so double-check the address before you try again.
  5. Check your inbox. The reset email comes from no-reply@greenjobsboard.us, with the subject "Reset your Green Jobs Board password."
  6. Click the reset link. It opens reset your password and works for a short window.
  7. Set a new password. It needs to be 12 to 128 characters. Enter it twice to confirm, and use the eye icons to show or hide what you're typing.
  8. Submit. You'll see "Password updated. Sign in with your new password" and land back on log in.

If the reset email doesn't arrive, see Email not arriving for the same troubleshooting steps. If you send too many reset requests in a row, you'll see a "Too many requests" message. Wait the number of seconds it mentions and try again.

When you can't reset

  • You signed up with Google. Google accounts don't have a password on Green Jobs Board. You sign in through Google, so there's nothing to reset here. To change your Google password, do it from your Google account settings. Using Forgot Password with a Google-linked email won't send you anything.
  • You've lost access to your email. It's best to update your email before you lose access (see "Changing your email" below). If you've already lost access to the original email, the reset flow can't help, so reach out to support and the team can verify your identity another way. Employers can find the support contact card in Data & privacy settings.
  • No email arrives even though you submitted. Remember, the "check your inbox" page appears whether or not the email is on file. If nothing arrives, double-check the email address, look in spam, and walk through Email not arriving.

Changing your email

You can change your account email yourself in the app, with no support ticket needed.

  • Job seekers. Open change your email. Enter the new address and your current password. We'll send a confirmation link to the new address. Click it to finish the change. The link opens confirm your email, and once it's confirmed you can sign back in with the new email.
  • Employers. Open change your email. It's the same flow: new email plus current password, a confirmation link to the new address, then sign back in.
  • You'll always see "check your inbox". Just like password reset, we don't tell the form whether the new address already belongs to another account. If no email arrives, the new address is probably already in use.
  • Switching between email/password and Google isn't something you can do in the app. Reach out to support if you need to switch.

Good to know

  • Reset emails take a couple of minutes. If you don't see one, wait five minutes before requesting again, since two requests close together can cancel the earlier link.
  • Check spam. Reset emails sometimes land there, especially the first time you hear from us. Mark no-reply@greenjobsboard.us as "not spam" so future ones (like interview notifications and application updates) reach your inbox.
  • Reset links expire. For your security, the link only works for a short window. If yours has expired, request a new one from the same Forgot Password page.
  • Same flow for both portals. Job seekers and employers share the login page and reset flow, and you'll land back in your usual portal after logging in.
  • Use a password manager. Pick a strong, unique password and store it somewhere you trust. Reusing passwords across sites is the most common cause of accounts being taken over.
  • Resetting doesn't touch anything else. Your applications, saved jobs, profile, and pipeline data all stay exactly as they are.
  • Forgot password or change password? Pick the right one. If you remember your current password, use the in-settings change flow above. If you don't, use the reset flow.
