A job search is real work, and it runs on your energy. Burn out during the search and you will have nothing left for the role when you finally land it. Looking after yourself is not time away from the search. It is part of doing it well.
Disconnect, then reconnect
Step away from the screen on a schedule, not just when you crash. A walk, some time outdoors, a coffee with someone who is not a recruiter. The applications will still be there in an hour, and you will come back to them sharper.
Lean on your people
You do not have to do this alone. Ask for a resume read, a pep talk, or just someone to listen. The people who care about you would far rather help than watch you struggle quietly.
Make room for the feelings
Searching is an emotional ride: hope, rejection, relief, doubt, sometimes all in one afternoon. Name what you are feeling instead of pushing it down. Acknowledging it is what lets you move through it.
Cover the basics
Sleep, movement, and real food do more for your interviews than one more late-night application. When your body is looked after, your focus and your mood follow.
Do something that is just for you
Keep one thing in your week that has nothing to do with the search: a book, a trail, a recipe, a band. Joy is not a distraction from the work. It is what keeps you in it.
Self-care is not a luxury you earn after the offer. It is how you stay steady enough to get there. Your worth was never tied to your job status, and it is not now.
