Get Ready for the Spotlight

Usman Fahimullah

Nerves before an interview are normal. They usually just mean you care. Preparation is what turns that nervous energy into something you can use, so you walk in ready instead of hoping to wing it.

Research the company

Start with their mission, their values, and the way they talk about their work. The more you understand what they care about, the more naturally your answers speak to it.

Read the job description closely

Pull out the skills, qualifications, and experience they list, and line each one up against a moment from your own history. That mapping is half your interview prep, done in advance.

Prepare your stories

Have answers ready for the common questions, built on the STAR method: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Specific examples beat general claims every time.

Plan your outfit ahead of time

Comfortable, confident, and roughly matched to the company's vibe. When you are unsure, lean slightly overdressed. Deciding this the night before is one less thing to spend energy on that morning.

Then practice

Say your answers out loud until they feel like yours. Practice is what lets you speak clearly when the moment is real and the adrenaline is up.

Preparation is the whole game. Do the work beforehand and the interview becomes a conversation you are ready for, not a test you are bracing against.
