Maxine Griffin Somerville

Maxine Griffin Somerville is the National Audubon Society's Chief People and Culture Officer, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining talent and fostering an engaged, diverse, and inclusive performance-driven culture of workplace excellence. Prior to joining Audubon, Maxine was VP of Global Human Resources for EngenderHealth, a global women's health organization, where she led all HR functions and developed HR vision, mission, and strategy for 12 country offices across Africa, Asia, and the US. Her career also includes roles at the National Abortion Federation, Urban Institute, United Nations Foundation, Center for Policy Alternatives, League of Women Voters, Brookings Institution, and the Office of Personnel Management. Maxine holds a doctorate in Education, Organizational Change, and Leadership from USC, master's in public administration from The George Washington University, bachelor's in psychology from Old Dominion University, and HR certifications from HRCI and SHRM.
