Social Media & Content Associate - Part-Time Contractor

Entry-level | Remote | 10-20 hours/week

Are you passionate about environmental storytelling and digital impact? The Oxygen Project is looking for a creative, organized, and purpose-driven Social Media & Content Associate - Part-Time Contractor to help us amplify our message and grow our global movement.

Working in this position, you will:

- Write compelling, engaging copy for social media posts across platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.)

- Collaborate with our graphic designer to align visuals with messaging

- Research relevant topics, trends, and environmental news

- Assist in planning and developing content calendars

- Execute and schedule posts that maintain consistency in brand voice and storytelling

- Track and report key audience engagement metrics

- Offer a fresh perspective on messaging that matters

Our vision is to catalyze a conscious, regenerative, and climate-resilient world. With dedicated teams in the United States and Latin America, we operate bilingually, delivering impactful programs in both Spanish and English. As a nimble organization, TOP takes quick, decisive action on urgent issues facing nature and communities globally.

- A social media maven with a good finger on the pulse of what audiences in the environmental space engage with and care about

- A creative thinker who can collaborate with others to develop and execute a social content strategy

- Passionate about sustainability and the defining climate issues of our time

- Independent and comfortable working on a small team

- Kind, curious, and interested in other people’s perspectives

- Inventive and excited about building something new

- Open-minded and value diversity

What you’ll bring to the table:

- 1-3 years experience working in social media, audience development, or content for companies, brands, media, or non-profits

- Completed or nearly completed a college degree in communications, marketing, international policy/sustainability, or related fields (or related level of experience)

- Experience in consistently executing video content (ideating, creating, and editing

- Experience working with a wide variety of multimedia formats, including video, graphics, writing, and audio

- Experience growing audiences, with specific preference given to candidates with expertise in Instagram and TikTok

- Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit

- Strong editorial judgment and a good instinct for the zeitgeist of our times

- Strong attention to detail, fact-checking, and citation skills 

- Experience working with common design and creative tools (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, After Effects) is a big plus

- Experience working in sustainability or social good is preferred, but not required

- Being bilingual in Spanish and English is a bonus, but not required, as our organization operates in both languages with members in the US, Chile, Colombia & Spain.
