Location:
Mount Kisco, NY / Hybrid. Travel within Westchester County and New York State is required, with availability needed for nights and weekends.

Description:

The Senior Program Manager oversees day-to-day municipal engagement at Sustainable Westchester, focusing on local government participation in Climate Smart Communities and Clean Energy Communities. This role manages program staff, coordinates with cross-functional teams (customer support, sales, marketing, outreach, and operations), and serves as a key liaison to municipal leaders, community stakeholders, partner organizations, and media professionals. The ideal candidate is deeply committed to community empowerment, climate action, and operational excellence. This position requires flexibility for evening and occasional weekend meetings and events and reports to the Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day municipal engagement operations, ensuring timely execution and adherence to established protocols.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with municipal leaders, elected officials, community organizations, industry groups, chambers of commerce, and sustainability committees.
  • Lead outreach to non-participating municipalities to drive enrollment in Sustainable Westchester programs.
  • Monitor and share relevant legislative updates, regulatory changes, and grant or sponsorship opportunities with municipal and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct asset mapping to identify community needs, service gaps, and opportunities for collaboration and growth.
  • Coordinate across Sustainable Westchester programs and maintain working knowledge of residential and commercial offerings to ensure alignment and impact.
  • Plan, market and deliver community-facing campaigns, events, and informational sessions with municipal partners and volunteer networks.
  • Supervise program staff and manage coordination with internal teams, vendors, and partners, including maintaining a vetted list of service providers for municipal decarbonization, solar, and sustainable landscaping initiatives.
  • Manage program planning and operations, including annual work plans, budgets, reporting, and consistent use of Salesforce.
  • Support program development and innovation, and lead the Sustainable Landscaping and GridRewards marketing efforts to help municipalities meet their climate goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in program/project management preferably in the nonprofit, clean energy, or startup sectors.
  • Experience supervising staff.
  • Design skills are highly preferred, experience with Adobe programs or Canva.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a track record of managing complex projects to successful outcomes.
  • Preference for fast-paced and collaborative working style.
  • Proficiency in CRM and project management tools; experience with Salesforce and Asana a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport across a diverse stakeholder base.
  • Excel skills
  • Experience in community engagement
  • Able to lift and transport up to 40 pounds of materials to multiple locations within Westchester County.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable, fully insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends as required.
