Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Program Manager to join our team.

The Change Climate Project is a fast-growing tech nonprofit that creates incentives and tools to get companies to eliminate carbon emissions. We manage The Climate Label Certification Standard and a tech platform for GHG reduction known as The BEE. Together these programs spark ambitious corporate climate initiatives. Our certification framework is an alternative to tired and empty net zero pledges. It requires immediate and quantified investment in climate solutions. We envision a world where it is standard practice for businesses to fund climate solutions at the scale of their emissions.

The Role

As a Senior Program Manager, you will be deeply involved in delivering our programs, maintaining our Standard, and leading key operating processes. You'll work directly with companies on the technical and financial dimensions of climate transition planning, lead our Standards Technical Advisory Committee, manage a small team, and continuously improve the certification experience for hundreds of companies. This is a dig-in, roll-up-your-sleeves kind of job, and you’ll have a key responsibility to make sure companies are well positioned to earn and maintain The Climate Label certification. You'll collaborate with our small, passionate team and partner with hundreds of companies to realize our mission.

Your Responsibilities

Program Delivery

  • As an accountability partner for our community, work directly with companies pursuing The Climate Label certification. Guide companies through GHG measurement, emissions reduction planning, and climate transition budgeting. Track and review certification applications to ensure compliance with our Standard.
  • Drawing on your experience with corporate climate finance — including climate transition action plans, sustainability budgets, internal carbon fees, and climate project funding — develop compelling instructional content, lead engaging external calls and webinars, and answer brand questions to enable our community to accelerate funding for climate solutions.
  • Track and take initiative to enhance brand satisfaction, working across our team on projects that ensure our community is constantly learning, expanding, meeting our certification requirements, and finding value from being certified.
  • Brainstorm and contribute to team efforts to iteratively streamline internal operations and tools, including by conducting retrospectives, collecting feedback from certified brands, and sharing insights across our team.
  • Manage our Operations Team, overseeing internal data workflows, business processes, brand community support, and administrative tasks while actively promoting their professional development.
  • Manage our climate solutions provider directory, including regular partner engagement and training to ensure our brand community’s needs are well supported.

Standards Development & Technical Expertise

  • Lead the annual stakeholder review process for The Climate Label Certification Standard.
  • Develop agendas and moderate discussions with our Standards Technical Advisory Committee (STAC).
  • Synthesize expert feedback and draft proposed changes to the Standard.
  • Manage rollout to the brand community.
  • Monitor key external standards and frameworks such as ISO, GHG Protocol, SBTi, IC-VCM, VCMI, and US/UK/EU regulatory and disclosure requirements. Share updates with our community.

What We're Looking For

  • 5–7 years of experience working in corporate sustainability, carbon accounting, climate consulting, or a similar field
  • Technical depth and fluency with sustainability standards and the voluntary carbon market
  • Strong stakeholder and community engagement skills
  • Direct experience with the application of internal carbon fees and sustainability budgets
  • Real-world experience conducting greenhouse gas accounting, life cycle assessments, science-based target setting, and emissions reduction planning
  • Success at managing multi-stakeholder technical processes — such as standards development, advisory committee work, or public comment periods
  • Ability to synthesize complex subjects into clear, actionable guidance
  • A strong track record with team management responsibilities
  • Data fluency and comfort with spreadsheets, Salesforce, and other data platforms
  • Equal comfort in talking with a climate scientist, a sustainability director, or a layperson
  • Excellent time management and project planning skills
  • Excitement about The Change Climate Project's mission and model of impact
  • Readiness to work on a small, passionate team that always seeks to outperform

The Change Climate Project has an inclusive culture and work environment that respects individual strengths, views, and experiences. We encourage qualified applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and perspectives.
