New York Fibershed is a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting and strengthening the fiber and textile communities across New York. Our mission is to build a more circular and climate beneficial textile system through educational programming, industry development, and collaborative projects. Through flagship initiatives like the New York Textile Lab and the Carbon Farm Network, we are advancing a “Soil-to-Soil” model that restores ecosystems and strengthens local economies.
About the Role
As Carbon Farm Plan Coordinator, you’ll support conservation planning and implementation on farms across New York State, working directly with producers to develop Carbon Farm Plans, provide on-farm technical assistance, and support implementation and monitoring of climate-smart practices.
We're looking for someone with experience in conservation, natural resources, or agriculture, and a strong interest in supporting farmers and land stewards. The ideal candidate has worked directly with farmers or producers and understands conservation or regenerative land planning, with the ability to translate technical information clearly and accessibly. Strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects, and a willingness to travel across New York State are essential.

Essential Qualifications
- B.S., B.A., and/or M.S. in environmental planning, natural/applied sciences, or a related field (e.g., soil science, agronomy, ecology, animal science), or equivalent experience
- ~5+ years of experience in natural resources, conservation, or related fields
- ~3+ years of on-farm conservation planning experience (NRCS certification preferred)
- Experience working with farmers, land managers, or agricultural producers
- Willingness to travel statewide and work occasional evenings/weekends
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with conservation planning, regenerative land planning, or NRCS programs
- Experience with GIS, data management, and office tools (Microsoft Office, Google Suite)
- Knowledge of New York State ecosystems, agriculture, or working landscapes is a plus
- Experience with grants, contracts, or funding programs
- Strong analytical, research, and writing skills
- Ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences, especially producers
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Self-directed, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Strong relationship building and partnership development skills
- Detail oriented with strong problem solving abilities
Benefits
We are offering a competitive yearly salary + paid vacation and reimbursement for work-related expenses, including travel at $0.70 per mile, materials and supplies, and necessary software and technology tools.
