About Climate Solutions

As a Northwest-based nonprofit for over twenty-five years, Climate Solutions' mission is to accelerate clean energy solutions to the climate crisis. Climate Solutions has a vision of a thriving, equitable Northwest, powered by clean energy, inspiring the transition to sustainable prosperity across the country and beyond. Climate Solutions advances local, regional, and state action on climate and clean energy through championing transformational policies and market-based innovations; catalyzing powerful partnerships and a diverse movement for action and accountability; and communicating a bold vision for solutions at the scale required by climate science. For more information about Climate Solutions, visit www.climatesolutions.org

The Breaking Barriers Collaborative (BBC) empowers Pacific Northwest businesses to accelerate equitable climate action through hands-on programs designed for businesses ready to lead the transition to a net-zero economy. Since its launch in 2023, the Breaking Barriers Collaborative has experienced tremendous growth in the number of organizations that have completed its Fleet Electrification Accelerator and started the journey to electrify their fleets. We have completed seven cohorts and graduated 85 organizations that collectively operate over 30,000 vehicles. Accelerator graduates range from large corporations like Skanska, Boeing, and McKinstry, to more than 20 state agencies and cities, to smaller organizations like the Seattle Aquarium. BBC recently launched a pilot cohort of its Small Business EV Launchpad, designed specifically for small, mostly BIPOC-owned businesses. Learn more about the initiative here.

About the Opportunity

The Breaking Barriers Collaborative is looking for a Program Manager to define and lead programming for the growing number of organizations that have completed BBC’s Accelerator and Launchpad fleet electrification programs. This role will play an important position on the BBC team as they will lead the definition and implementation of programs that help BBC graduates make sustained progress towards fleet electrification; deepen relationships with and among graduates of BBC programs; and collaborate to develop success stories of BBC’s alumni and their journeys. These programs may eventually be expanded to audiences beyond BBC graduates.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in creating new programs from scratch in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment; is energized by building trust-based partnerships with businesses, non-profits, and government agencies; combines analytics and creativity to define and create new programs, and is skilled at building engaged communities online and in-person. The person also enjoys working for a very collaborative, mission-driven organization.

  • Define programs and/or services that address the major barriers to continued fleet electrification, and collaborate with internal and external partners to bring them to life

WHO YOU ARE

  • You believe in Climate Solutions’ and BBC’s mission, and are committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. You believe in accelerating clean energy solutions to the climate crisis and champion transformational policies, market-based innovations, and implementation programs across Washington and Oregon.
  • You thrive on building and developing trust-based relationships with individuals and organizations. You get energized by reaching out to new individuals and organizations to understand their needs and to share BBC’s vision and programs, always looking for win-win opportunities. You practice cultural humility, listen actively, communicate clearly, and create non-transactional relationships with customers, including small, socio-economically diverse, and BIPOC-owned businesses.
  • You are a skilled program manager who can lead a program from ideation to implementation. You have the ability to gather and synthesize information from customers and other sources and then define and create new programs that meet customer needs and goals. You prioritize program features and know how to make difficult tradeoffs. You lead a team of internal and external partners to deliver programs that exceed customer expectations, on time and on budget. Prior knowledge of fleet electrification is nice to have but is not a requirement for this role.
  • You are a community-builder. You know how to create vibrant communities of business professionals that are deeply engaged with BBC and with each other, both online and in-person. You understand the capabilities of virtual community platforms and how to utilize them to drive sustained user engagement. You are equally skilled at creating in-person events that both educate and engage individuals.
  • You are a team player. You collaborate with BBC team members and the broader Climate Solutions staff. You pro-actively look for opportunities to support your teammates, and prioritize team success over individual success. You work equally well with partners, and look for win-win partner opportunities that complement BBC’s internal capabilities.
  • You embrace technology to accomplish tasks. You embrace technology to get things done, and have experience with online community platforms and CRMs. If there is technology you aren’t familiar with that can help get the job done, you embrace it and become the team expert.
  • You are a data analyzer. You are able to analyze data, present it in a way that tells a compelling story, and translate it into actionable insights. You also view data through an equity perspective.
  • You are adaptive and resilient. You stay focused amid shifting priorities, perspectives, and rejection. You have the ability to continue to find new ways and approaches to achieve your goals.

Climate Solutions recognizes that institutional racism, including systems and behaviors that maintain white power and privilege, exists within our organization, the broader climate and environmental movement, and throughout society. We also recognize that the impacts of the climate crisis, pollution from fossil fuels, and the costs of proposed solutions fall disproportionately on communities of color, low income, Tribal Nations, and frontline communities, both in our region and across the world. This is a barrier to a more equitable future and our ability to achieve our mission.

Climate Solutions has chosen to lead our work with a racial equity lens as a strategy to address all forms of oppression. Climate Solutions is committed to equal opportunity in employment and promotion for all qualified persons without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, military or veteran status, the presence of any sensory, mental or physical disability, pregnancy and childbirth, family responsibilities, or any other basis protected by applicable laws, regulations, or guidelines relating to discrimination in employment.
