Chantella Mitchell
Program Director, New York Community Trust
Chantella Mitchell is a Program Director at the New York Community Trust where she leads grantmaking to increase and preserve affordable housing; connect all New Yorkers to economic opportunities, including well-paying jobs; and strengthen social work education and practice. Chantella serves as chair of the NYC Rent Guidelines Board, appointed by Mayor Mamdani. She is also co-chair of the Change Capital Fund and the NYC Workforce Funders Collaborative. Prior to working at The Trust, Chantella was an executive director at the New York City Department of Housing Preservation (HPD), a director of operations at HPD, and a senior budget analyst at the Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Before beginning her career in public service, Chantella worked in both direct service and policy advocacy roles. Chantella earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University. She lives in Brooklyn.
