John L. Barry, Director & Urban Forest Professional at the Cohanzick Nature Reserve (Native American Advancement Corporation), is an ISA Certified Arborist (ISA NJ1407-AF) whose career bridges corporate community reinvestment and environmental stewardship. Before entering tree care in 2019, John spent years in marketing, advertising, and nonprofit community development with municipalities and Fortune 500s. This journey forged his core belief that true economic development must rest upon the pillar of community development. Today, John integrates these principles into his work as a Conservation Arborist. Drawing on a lifelong connection to the outdoors cultivated during a childhood spent hunting, fishing, and learning native woodland skills in South Jersey and Maryland, he champions a holistic approach to land stewardship. He views natural resource care as a direct path to community health and healing, with training the next generation of land stewards at the center of his practice.
