Position: Director, Interior West, full-time
Location: Remote (primarily working in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones)

Job Description
We are looking to add a second director to co-lead our Interior West portfolio, working primarily in AZ, ID, MT, NV, UT, or WY. We seek someone with energy policy experience, strong communication skills (both oral and written), project leadership, and connections to these Interior West states. Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic direction of projects: set project vision and goals, draft work plans, design and facilitate workshops, manage client interactions, and determine steps to accomplish project objectives
  • Write reports, literature reviews, fact sheets, policy positions, newsletters, and meeting summaries to support project work
  • Design and lead stakeholder workshops, client meetings, and presentations to meet project objectives
  • Hire and supervise a project manager to support successful completion of Gridworks initiatives
  • Work collaboratively with the Gridworks team (executive director, fellows, other directors, project managers); provide feedback and guidance to fellows and project managers working on Interior West projects
  • Seek project leads and funding opportunities to further Gridworks’ mission in the Interior West; produce project proposals and concept notes responding to leads
  • Develop a network of contacts in the Interior West (subject-matter experts, stakeholders, thought-leaders, and policymakers)
  • Work independently to manage time, project load, and client development; apprise the Executive Director as needed
  • Support the development of Gridworks' best practices on a wide range of issues, including: facilitation, project management, hiring, HR, external communications, etc. 
  • Track and manage project budgets
  • Occasional travel to in-person meetings and quarterly staff retreats
  • Report to Gridworks’ Executive Director

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Eight years of professional experience, including at least four years working in some aspect of the energy or environmental industry 
  • Knowledge of Western state regulatory affairs and energy policy landscape
  • Facilitation, presentation, and/or meeting leadership experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Organizational skills and proficiency in project management best practices
  • Experience working with subject-matter experts and the ability to synthesize and communicate complex, technical matters
  • A commitment to uphold Gridworks' harassment policies 
  • Professional or lived experience in AZ, ID, MT, NV, UT, or WY
  • Gridworks is not able to support H-1 or work visa applications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, etc.), and online meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and WebEx).

  • Salary: $125,000 – $150,000, depending on experience level and location
